When working on site is allowed?

You can start working on site when the Building Permit is issued which will be emailed to you.

Do Building Permits expire?

Yes, Building Permits expire and the validity of a permit depends on the type of building and whether it is a new build or a re-erection.
All building work must begin within the following timeframes from the date the permit was issued:
  • Re-erection of a Class 1 or 10 buildings (e.g., houses, sheds, garages): Must start within 6 months.
  • All other building work: Must start within 12 months.

Can I apply for extension for my Building Permit?

Yes, you can, to be eligible for an extension you need to submit your request before your Building Permit lapses.
To Consider: make sure to start your extension process a few weeks before the permit’s expiry.
If your permit lapses, you’ll need to apply for a new Building Permit which means starting the process again.

How long I can extend my permit?

The exact extension length can vary depending on the permit, we can usually extend 6 to 12 months.
